Our next meeting is dealing with this topic of Children and Gender Modification (Legislative Priority #3). Meeting Date is Tuesday, April 6, at 7 p.m.
Location is: Buck Snort BBQ, 224 E. Jefferson St, Van Alstyne, TX
Buffet line opens at 5. Come and enjoy the ribs, etc. before the meeting!
We have invited Jill Glover, Dr. Bobby Lopez, & Jeff Younger to talk about this priority item in the Texas GOP Platform. The following bills to prohibit gender modification/reassignment have been introduced this session: HB68, HB1399, HB2693, HB4014, SB1311, & SB1646. Jill Glover is the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) for Senate District 12 and Chairs the Legislative Priorities Committee. The strategy on the Legislative Priority Committee is to give you, the voter, all the tools you need to make your voice heard. And, according to Glover, we are having some success.
Dr. Robert Oscar Lopez who grew up in a lesbian household and formerly expressed himself as a homosexual man, was dismissed from his position at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary because he refused to stay silent on two topics: the possibility of people leaving homosexuality through the help of both God and neighbor, and the abuse rampant in the homosexual community.
Jeff Younger is a father of twin boys and is in a court battle to keep his ex-wife from transitioning one of the boys into a girl through gender modification.
“Our bills to ban Child Gender Modification are picking up support and many representatives and senators are recognizing how critical it is to get something done this session to protect children from medical child abuse. . . They have been assigned to the House Public Health Committee and the Senate State Affairs Committee” according to Glover.
You can read her comments in the Legislative Priority Report published weekly at srec@texasgop.org. We must let our elected representatives know how we want them to vote on this issue. “We can target our phone calls and emails to the committees” Glover said. “Please check to see if your state representative or senator is chairing a committee that has our Legislative Priorities. You can see the committee assignments here for the House and Senate."
There is also a digital guide to all our priorities, with the contact information included for each state representative and senator. You can download and print this booklet out if you prefer. It includes talking points and a sample email.
Everyone is welcome. There is no charge to attend our meetings or to join the Texoma Patriots.
