Reminder - Saturday, December 19, is Election Day for the Senate District 30 (SD30) runoff election. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The candidates for State Senate, District 30, unexpired term are:
SHELLEY LUTHER - small business owner, entrepreneur, former public school teacher
DREW SPRINGER - Texas State Representative, District 68, financial planner
Since the Presidential election in November, we now know how important our State legislature is. Texas Senator Pat Fallon vacated his Senate seat to run for the U.S. Congressional District 4 (CD4) seat. A special election was called by our Governor; five candidates filed to run for the seat. Now, Luther and Springer are headed for runoff in this special Texas Senate election. Only 164 votes separated Luther and Springer with Shelley getting 32.7% of the votes to Drew's 31.9%.
Registered voters in Grayson County may vote at any of the five listed locations:
Denison - Grayson County Sub-Courthouse, 101 W. Woodard
Sherman - Election Administrtion, 115 W. Houston
Pottsboro - Pottsboro ISD Administration, 105 Cardinal
Whitesboro - City Hall, 111 W. Main
Van Alstyne - Grayson College South Campus, 1455 W. Van Alstyne Parkway
Governing our State is much more important than politics. Government is about principles and laws. Politics is about people and opinions. It is unfortunate that one candidate continuously published malicious attacks on his opponent. We must elect principled people to represent us in the Texas Senate.
